as if

Temple

that i, mere me

could call the lark

to amuse, to befuddle, to wake up

i’ve never been though, i like to think

i have!

asleep, pondering, wrenching that glow stick

from my bff: my emotions said eternal

i should have known better … …

not that i would ever listen to passions greedy

and place them less.

what is life without colors?

yes! passions cries.

but the lark has flown away,

i no longer hear the morning song,

oh, i’ve never been honest with you have i?

no, no.

i am not the morning person

you think me to be.

hark, again –

dead tone.

i hear not, not because i cannot,

i do not want to.

do you?

to be pulled back into gravity when the taste

of freedom means.

sky. eternal blue.

like sea.

like gods.

who wants to go back to being human?

sermons, good speeches,

save it.

the tell is in your heartbeat,

i can hear it without stethoscopes.

it is so very loud,

you’ve muted me!

you pat me me on the back,

say: “i love you, always”

i scratch my head,

mommy told me love was a good thing.

but mommy did not always know left from right,

thought she did try her best.

so i sobbed,

pummeled my pillows

knowing

this divide is all too vast.

as if,

mere words would kindle back

bridges

that never were.
