the world is larger than the
head of a pin,
the pin all i had known
as a kid
and to be told
like this was the end.
and how i believed!
how i yearned
for something more
than truths
that lacked substance.
saw i did,
hear i did
when hormones kicked in
that all that was told
did not quite end there.
then adulthood came,
cruel, cruel game
where it was blood.
blood, taken freely
and none condemned
for it was covered
in lies.
then the world
expanded
when i found that
beliefs
had always been
built on the ephemeral.
