binary thinking

Mind

leads to childhood,

where food fell from

the sky

and pixies lived in the forest.

do this, get that, do that, get this

what simplicity!

little wonder the mind wanders towards

what is easily grasped,

when adult life hints at possibilities,

possible what?

a lotto strike brings a grin, a round of

drinks for those free loader

while a ill fortune brings a frowned

face – why me.

it could be, it may be, perhaps, tentatively

brings angst to some, to others it is life refreshed

with the 16 personality types each vying

for life refreshed.

afraid to fail, afraid of the boogey man,

afraid to open pandora’s box – though

ignition is the surprise party that everyone loves.

boredom fades does it not?

that numb, dull, thud

of rehearsing the same thing again each day,

why i’ve already been here!

inequality compresses the tightness,

air squeezed out

but those without better options can’t be choosers.

not like going back to childhood,

more like seeing childhood with adult eyes

yet remaining chained.

tug, tug, tug

till the elephant suddenly wakes up

hrmfff it cries: i am no longer weak.

yank the chain,

learned helplessness comes about:

when did the shift happen?

a sun sets, a moon refuses to reflect

the sun’s brilliance, had enough

of making someone else look good.

then the binary options began to fall

like star dust,

captured in a tiny bottle

where child, teenager, adult all merged into one.

this could mean anything,

this means you’ve grown up,

this is whatever you want it to be.
