a child questions his parent’s faith,
why ma, why pa did you choose that religion?
and they nodded wisely at their lovely kid,
because god exist and his name is blah blah.
oh really, the enthusiastic child beams at the attention,
how do you know that his name is blah blah? did he tell you?
the loving parents again nodded solemnly at this earnest quest,
no dear, we have faith that this is how it is, we’ve seen his movement!
ah, the child squealed excitedly, you actually saw this movement?
of which the slightly frustrated parents wondered on their next response,
you’ll understand when you grow up, an answer evasive and vague but works wonders.
ok, ok, ok, i understand the child said, i have faith too
then grows up, sees life, experiences all the smashes, bruises, let downs,
joys, tears, happiness: ah now i understand says the adult who was once a child.
for the tides did come, the many questions that held no answers, pressing problems
rising and a house too small: with everyone shouting for more,
more this, more that, even minimalism is about more, more time, more leisure, more peace,
how are you the neighbor asked? good, good was the general reply, anything
more is seen as rude, why?
and then the dirt within threatens to spill forth, you really want to know,
no one really does, for superficial works best when problems mount,
when resources are scarce and the adult has learned to play this new game well.
hey, it works for naive notions do not depart when it is a life boat.
