trail the path of regret
in hopes of finding enlightenment,
a way out, from mistakes, errors, blemishes,
on face needs cosmetics when
scars are said to be non removable.
and it makes no sense,
because dirt gets fed dirt, dirt grows
then the cancerous growth becomes this permanent
idol made from daily worships.
it has grown strong, it has grown tall, it has grown
to be accustomed to controlling,
one meaningless being still scrambling to
bring forth sacrifices,
the black smoke fills up the nostril of a sleeping man
who has a coughing fit, “hey knock it off would ya?”
but there is no answer.
the faithful are bent on the irrational, with Dionysus
drunk on wine, more, he burped
out a string of memories, phantoms, ghosts
that clung to the devout, faith is addictive
and the man has awoken from his stupor, shouts again
“mind that foot!” but his calls are being ignored,
the towering idol is powerful and bends the
once strong to heel,
aghast, shivering with fear, it is all a frightened man
can do – bow low.
the man laid down to rest when talk
was ignored, shut off, unheeded
to the raving man, who claimed his hard work
has been spurned.
“get over it,” and he went back to sleep,
dreaming of godless days
when the paths made sense to all,
till a living god cried out, he is living isn’t he?
but belief is irrational, based on faith,
more faith is needed, or so the logic goes
and the spiral twists, elongates, transforms
till the human now shows all signs of plain psychosis.
it made no sense at all,
to follow a non living god – mumbled the
dreaming man … … but those around
still went about their ruts,
labels are dished out fast when the money
exchanges hands: stop thinking
and let the spirit guide: what spirit? which spirit?
the man twitched in his sleep, unable to fathom
the evidence, the logic, the perplexity:
like trying to make sense of meaninglessness
to eradicate nihilism,
and it makes no common sense
till the alien ship comes aboard, a journey made
across the universe: find planet binary, hashtags.
the lizard brain took over,
and the devout they worshiped clay and made it god.
