i got a spell, i got a potion master
got me drunk
on music, herbs and dance,
my arms dangled loosely –
hey you got a problem?
at starry eyed crowd refusing to back away,
took my arms, they did
no locks on my heart,
so i swayed to the breeze,
hey what’s your problem?
the wind rushed towards me, pushed me off a cliff
oh,
ouch,
argh, i tried to stop that rush,
like adrenalin, should it be … … this rush?
the potion master made my drink a little
stronger: this should do it,
then the dizziness swept my feet of air,
how dazzling, the starry eyed stars whizzed past me!
now. i began to fret.
maybe, i should grab one of those twinkling shiny dots,
should make a fine necklace,
then again. maybe the spell did unlock my heart,
for that life was kept wrapped up
once all the rules got applied. don’t do this, don’t do that.
and it was never consistent, more like made up as air went inside
my head. an air head. i like that,
when the crowd now begins to point fingers,
they were never constant, never faithful, always
swaying to the music,
to the potion that got even stronger,
all rushing as they grabbed as tiny dwindling dust
wrapped around their cloak.
a fine spell, don’t you think?
said the echo from the universe still expanding,
like my big head unable to take in
all this bits and pieces, bite down hard.
then one by one, the stars they started to fall,
not shooting stars,
fall, descend, gravity doing it’s work,
argh,
ouch, no more,
ouch – i landed hard
and realized i had spun a full circle,
ended exactly where i first started.
square one. and it was there, then,
that potion master and spell caster, stopped dazzling,
grinned cheekily,
hey, what’s of value when dust and stars stop spinning?
and there i was, flat on my bum,
able to breathe, no adrenaline flooding my vessels,
i too grinned back: it’s quite clear isn’t it?
when the heat wave is gone,
it was my heart all along, that made dust to stars,
the magic that first took place.
