i caught the midnight train, eager to whizz off to utopia,
to osiris as he called fondly: after all i had noble goals,
and along the way i was side tracked by behemoth stomping
across plains unseen, what prickles, what sandstorm that came
out of no where, the wise men they came up with ideas, each
method failing, from the monarchs, the socialist, the romantics, religious
tides slowly simmering, dissipating, a horn from heaven appeared –
it was the first trumpet sounding, no one paid much attention at first,
just a climate change, nothing to be too concerned about,
rationalization works till it does not, like a 2 headed snake whose poisonous
bite seems almost like karma; no warnings this time round, the 2nd trumpet sounded
with more forest fires, the ocean heaved, puked, wild life began
to drop from the sky, meanwhile i stood still to meditate away the illusions,
surely they must be, then heard the call of the siren, it was soothing at first,
calm, like a friend in need, my guardrails fell, my shoulders relaxed, i beamed
at the sun – though it be false, for surely this ancient spirit hides behind
a sea of endless depth, so too her treasured box of gold, silver and gems
as each body collapsed eventually. then too did the spell tire out,
the ideals clashed, sputters about like a candle unable to keep fire,
harsh winds threatening on a sides while the baby wails. romantics faded
from stones falling, pragmatics turned stone cold from fires dead within,
the monarch tightened control only to feel the rein slip, democracies
fought internally – like an animal hosted with many parasites, unable to
make headway: each wave eroded another, meritocracy meant little
to royalty, tug tug, i saw the nightshade flower bloom in eternal night,
glorious heavenly wings toke form, beckoning to me: come hither, and
i did; so very close i could feel warm breaths falling upon my cold sweaty hands,
then transform the cherubim did, to janus as he accused my past, showed
me a future – earn it. i ran as hard as i could, towards that future something,
what i cannot tell, foggy it was with misty wetness wrapping around my eyes,
till the lights became dim, my senses became like live wire, responding to sounds,
to echoes from haunting tides, the sirens whisper drained slowly, the melting wax
dripped about the burning train, dazzled, slapped from heat, too much, too much
with hot wheels scorching, the earth began to sizzle, to groan, the 6th trumpet sounded,
the thuds of bodies vibrated languid earth soaking up red, armies heeding to commands,
drones, satellites, live wire sensing too much heat, breaks down. to touch the face of janus
who has transformed to judas iscariot who held a knife aimed at my neck, sliced through air,
the train came to a crash as my body flew out, without wings, without touching osiris for the waters
are dark, churning, poisoned, the ripples, the torment, the many voices building within spent –
then i heard no more, live wire faded out, ran out of oxygen, the mist began to slide down,
like a curtain slowly unravelling my original future made distant once again, osiris never
looked away, another trumpet sounded i could not hear, only saw the effects,
then nightshade flower wilted away with judas collapsing, the many colors of life became still,
the illusion scrambled for life, found none, settled scores appearing on dashboards;
i found myself landing on a rock – movements again, no surprises, just roads without labels.
