believe your story, the facts,
the curves only in one direction.
because you said it, it must be so,
then later on i grew up,
realizing facts can be interpreted
in outcomes that vary like stars
in the sky.
a yellow sun, a red one, what about
a black hole?
you never mentioned how all this could
turn so very wrong,
did not benefit you,
though the road be straight,
i see campfires by the side,
trails, paths, crossroads, all to be
taken in a metaphysical sense
when the heart was always closer
to the truth.
then springs forth the leaf, the stems,
shoots – how closely the poisonous snake
looks almost identical to the harmless one
of which you would never spurn, nor reject
such claims, vague answers, easy to change
directions when the wind betrays.
this is about you,
this is about right,
this is about god.
it’s all coming from you,
and the way you want it to be,
there is only one way to
perceive facts.
