invisible enemies

Temple

neurosis thickens, widens, stretches creativity

churning out –

what scorches, burns, laments will come later

when the end is seen.

sprouting greens do not see decay,

fresh clean slate eventually weeps.

weeps for dreams uncaptured, unreal,

was anything real?

smiles, gestures, help on an endless road

to perdition: eventually recognized what a thorn is.

did i ever hold you in my arms?

believing that was love?

did i? did i? did i really?

fragmented mind, parsed passion, stretched imagination

no longer wants to imagine what could be,

when reality melts

in my arms, a dying wish is silenced

with green sprouts bending low, caving, humbled

by torrents of living fire.

how they burn, scorch, erase

memories not longer seen the same way

for knowledge breaks this spell

of utopia, a child’s gaze into eternity,

no longer wishes for heaven.

let me out, let me be, just be

another stranger passing you by,

unwanted, not played, ignored

feels good.

neurosis webs closes in,

the mind blazes a thousand and one path,

closed roads no more,

and yet heaven has escaped.

flee, feel, hell’s inverted mirror

a dream carved from a human’s heart.

breaks, cracks, no longer able to sustain

illusions unreal.

neurosis meets logic, logic meets mind and mind

meets the heart, and the path is no longer open,

a gravestone stands in this mundane, banal, plain

the same words, the same speeches

made in life, repeated even in death

and a soul longs for a touch of heaven, for something real.

a scorching fire, a trail that blazes, opening a thousand paths

leading to peace, satisfaction, life, not the resounding

echoes of transactional exchanges made from a mind still

adding the numbers, is this worth it?

worth what? a lifetime of exchanges and a lifetime chasing dreams

finally able to settle down

in this earth, where heaven reaches out a thousand and one times,

a non transactional exchange, love spurned

for the obvious is resounding, an echo,

scorches, blazes the limbic system a thousand and one times

and a human must choose.
