with what works, with comfort, with pleasantness,
utopian dream touched.
the alternative? of nightmares, bed ridden
crippling finances, crippling mind, seems obvious
it is a curse, a damnation: heaven has been offered.
easy to digest, the sound of jingle bells,
a reindeer takes off – into rainbow colored skies,
made real. nothing is contested
till the sky rains red. purple, angry smoking coals
and the hope is that such horrors never
be visited.
the fates they halt, nyx stirs in her dreams,
a ruse is punctured: a material world filled with holes.
or does the sky remain forever blue?
come night, the darkness appears, languid
soft,
she walks steadily, unafraid
consistent to earth’s heartbeat,
she comes to take what is hers, the fates beckon,
the strings, the cords are gutted,
then dolls and golds they shimmer, dim, drop silently
like night awakening.
forgotten darkness, darkness
does not forget. forget the light. light mirrors the sun,
a false sun.
hope springs forth, like a gushing river, a dam broken down,
and all life embrace, run, drink
from hidden wells suddenly come alive.
forget the night,
dark mists swirl, like patterns inside your heart
waiting to be pried, opened, discovered.
the light dims,
fight, cling, yearn: a soul unable to fathom
death, fire, ice, heat, a solid circle gets erased
before fully formed. the soul fragments, sputters, stutters,
as comfort, ease, pleasantness, so very smooth
is the knife that cuts
the heart. dark swirls, mist igniting
burst into flames. the light no longer saves.
night is patient, night is languid, night is calm,
light sweetens,
it only goes so far
a little more
coiled spring, nyx
does not hurry nor bargain. snaps.
then dust speaks: cold, dismal, fiery, adamant, spooky,
lamenting, truthful, hideous, tendrils
form in the mirror. i know you spoke the reflection
now on the other side. i’ve lived as you. chasing clouds. while
my heart weighed down,
heavier,
and more solid
than light,
a circle complete. when night pried my illusions apart.
