it’s complicated

Choice

looks easy on paper, execution not so much

then they say not to give a sermon,

i’ve been guilty too of giving sermons.

who wants a lecture?

burn, burn, burn in hell!

who wants that?

no one, i think, then we have the opposite spectrum

where everything is permissible,

because everything is.

as long as it is legal,

as long as the religious leaders say it is ok,

which ones?

now it gets slightly confusing,

it is not a square peg, not a 1 cor-relation, r square?

anyone not in finance or math dismisses

this.

what the f$%^?

google it,

but it is work, and isn’t life enough?

trudging through more heat, more ice

heat of those customers who smile at you in the bus,

when they are the sales people and you the one buying,

the same ones quite irate and hostile

when the roles are switched!

life, it’s life said grandma.

huh … … the child asked,

when right and wrong seems arbitrary,

then grandma laughed, it is. it is. it is.

and wept.

what lies we tell our kids,

because they are not ready for what lies ahead,

keep telling ourselves that,

then kids grow up – seeing the deep blue,

quite beautiful, this freedom, this choice.

it is,

till the gong sounds,

the hellish hounds leap for throats not ready,

for life to be extinguished.

do not, take life,

beseeched a damsel in distress.

no, not me, everyone nods in agreement,

situations are complex they say

when each person is pointing fingers at the next person,

no, not me, it was him, her.

him, her points fingers too – not me,

it was … …

the black fades with the white,

no enlightenment, just a dismissal

that’s real life for ya,

something we do not stomach, myths are made

to make a stomach.

it is nice, i could live with paradise,

paradise is not – when a bill comes,

but who says a bill is due?

lies, lies, lies

till the end as heroes stomped.

the earth echoed their sentiment,

thump, hrumph, phrunph

it is whatever

right?

phrmp, premnp, honk

at the car unmoving but the engines are dead.

bills begin to vanish when a lie is found,

it is pleasant so it must be better.

better it is, till the invoice has reached

the devil who comes to collect personally

and whispers another sweet lie.

they all felt like heroes,

a life time of abusing, a life time of horror

with a smile of gratitude

when the devil said: “you’re in love.”

everyone else simply did as they were told,

like they were always told to –

no one dares say it who the lover is,

not when heroes have all the cards.

that’s life for ya.
