knock knock

Temple

and lust greeted me,

took me for a ride through the sky,

it was quite the journey,

left me high and dry,

as it was never enough,

that’s the state lust told me,

when you follow me.

and gluttony greeted me,

here i saw all the most delicious food

awaiting, baked, sweets, salty, fried, but

i chose the slightly burnt ones,

ah – what a taste, how savory, heard not

my body sending signals to my rather dulled mind,

i grew more thin, more frail, more delicate,

till i finally collapse when the sheer amount of

fats, salt and sweet just did not bode too well, burp.

and jealousy threw her arms around me,

oh, how long has it been?

i thought you’ve forgotten me, she chided,

while giving me kisses all over,

showed me the splendor of everything i had missed,

over the years, paths not taken, it could be you,

was not, higher and higher, the air grew thin,

i hearken not – impossible i howled,

seeing my misery when it could be so much more!

and sloth cautiously looked out,

could barely open the door, i’m sorry

he apologized: the house is rather messy,

with carrions splattered all across the marbled floor,

it was all gooey like, you know, slimy utensils, chairs

that i barely sat down before plummeting on the toilet bowl.

ah, should not have left it there, left what?

i tried to say the words, found no words came,

with all my strength, memory, acuteness taken

away.

and wrath shoved the door so very wide open,

i all but screamed, many thugs came from within,

badly beaten, bound and tied, i found no appeals

because it was all my fault,

even when i had barely uttered a sentence,

strange a conclusion was already found!

and greed beckoned away, drew me near

that i could see the diamonds like stars

scattered on earth, each one large, more intricate

than the last, an ache built within me as i mourned

for what was not mine,

watched those with lots swagger and grin,

ah they must be having so much fun,

though some of them they bow their head low,

actually it makes them look good, you know,

a humble man with much, never too much,

always a sympathy ear, crocodile tears welling up

when they pat my back, sure wish i could help they said.

and pride showed me the way to elevated states,

pay no heed to mundane ones,

they fester, they crawl, they squabble

till the night becomes morning again,

lust, greed, jealousy, sloth, wrath, greed

why they all augment, they all enforce, they all

are sisters, brothers in this splendid family,

surely you must have heard stories

from the enemy?

they’re not like that you know, it feels quite

different when they pour their spirit into you,

try it, you’ll suddenly comprehend why

there is no other way.

i watched, i re-enacted, i rehearsed, i wailed,

bawled like a new born child: why i asked

love. why does it make so much sense

when i commune with the other side?

CRASH, the table got turned upside down,

chaos, i lost it all, the 7 spirits left – ah, they cried,

so long, farewell, you’re on your own

and only love remained, stood by me, bled with me,

suffered with me, got chewed up by me,

and still stayed. love gave me what the others could not,

sacrifice. i could give nothing back. love stayed.
