the devil plants seeds

Cornerstone

nothing to wring your hands about

nothing to tear your hair over

nothing to cry over and spill blood to that diary

just innocent, well sounding logic that rhymes with

your favorite cartoon here

just a lyrical music piece that might have been prose

or the latest hit from that magazine you sleep with

now try to chew on curdled milk tasting like pork

does not cause the stomach to churn or tear ducts

to flow –

innocuous, pass it through because the alarm bells

do not ring

the orange flickers on and off from a tripwire needing

some fix

strong pressure unseen when the dam is sturdy like

atlas able to shrug it off; poof.

and the sky is a darker turn while the boiling water

remains unseen

to the casual observer still frolicking in the simple days

long eroded with a plain of treacherous sharks pouncing

over defenses not built to last – crashing

to sway a cornerstone

delilah uncovers what has been missed,

once again the mighty crumble

a zero day exploit when blue rains down

and a void hangs out in the outer realms

with inner self no longer able to project

the many edible lies once fantastical

poofs away. and what is left just pieces of imagination

of what could be, had been unmasked

with the tides washed down, rolled back

till only skeletons remain of changes in season,

the spinner of tales got tired of the charade

turned the envious sea blue. it was pay back

for the green eyed monster lying at the bottom.
