is filled with. i.
short changed? – come tither,
the devil knows you deserve
more, forget that name,
it is just a wrong verdict
on one whose heart matches
that thumping noise
you hope no one is listening to –
as it warps, races, rushes, swims
even when water is dry,
becomes like stale air, still the lungs
breathe in water through gills
because it is not about here. it is about
what if.
because the dices do not lie,
and the dices play fate: watch the winners
lie. it is no lie. because power is might.
though the stone begins to crumble
when the illusion fades.
dices do not play games, the handy man
is sweating when the stakes are high,
he has mouths to feed, and pleasures
to indulge in. the take on this – watch the
watcher who damns all but he himself
cannot be touched!
and the herds they follow, no longer mindful
of justice or fairness – it does not exist,
each man for himself
then that is when the devil retorts to the angels
watching – was i wrong?
it is all about the results,
not the means.
then the sky became dark, i no longer could
see my neighbor’s face: though whispers
were heard from the grave. don’t let my death be for nothing.
and yet
it was for nothing when the tides roll pass
coarse rocks
unmoving. today, yesterday, tomorrow
is all the same when the gods laugh
because men worship idols.
take a piece of silver,
from the linings of the cloud passing by,
it’s the last sliver of hope –
cherish it well.
