a lapse in judgement comes about
when the waves hit.
what force, coldness enters the bones,
vertigo and then blank.
try to recite those proverbs,
try to go by general rule of thumb,
try to tread water with nets dragging a body,
and yet there is not much to miss
for general rules do not apply – each situation is unique
discernment becomes cloudy as oxygen thins out.
where was i?
a train derailed, a screaming train burst forth
from the tunnel – buy me some time,
then took flight and crashed on the next cliff.
the debris falls into a gorge, a dead gorge
where screams go in a loop
and time has elapsed, time has been extended,
for skin covered distress cunningly,
a visitor, a buyer, an onlooker too became
part of the dirt.
a flying train, a unicorn, a rainbow sealed
within this envelope,
no one pays attention – another scheme,
yeah right. and opportunities ran for the exit.
an achille’s brain, foggy, soggy, too dense
to pry apart meaning, hidden
beneath layers of frost,
come summer the weathered out roots
will sigh, drink, feast with the sun.
but today, it is just
me and you idly chattering of things
of no consequences.
it’s the small talk, the little tweaks, where screws
are found, twist a little
and the machine comes apart.
what wonder!
later on you became me,
with no one else hearing the screaming me
found in a gorge of time no longer extended.
