that i was not tied to you,
a black mask.
i see you not
and i am what you tell me to be.
it is so easy for you,
to wave and have the world bow
to your feet,
entitled.
i had to slave away,
for eons, i don’t think you know what that means.
because words
do not do justice
when flesh gets flailed.
you look at me,
wide eyed.
unafraid,
i saw it as courage
it was so easy for you
to be smooth, like aged wine
i mistook to be precious.
you never did anything did you?
rehearse those lines each night,
that the hoax would not be seen?
or is that too far fetched/i know not
when confusion is reality
you call madness.
is it – – –
to accept the incredible,
that you were never supposed to
dictate, to command, to be,
seems like one of us disagrees.
i was mad,
to believe you.
