hell, pain, suffering, gone mad
the rabbit hole widens, becomes a jaw
slamming shut.
doors closed, red light and needing to pee
and there are no toilets around,
a traffic jam,
with lines and lines of policemen.
cookie cutter box does not quite piece
out a triangle, the square unfit
to join the rest of the ornaments,
a tear in the bladder.
meanwhile sanguine drivers coast along,
drinking sips of coffee
towards the rising sun
which looks somewhat like an orange light
up in the sky.
bears no resemblance to tepid earth,
shunning the blazing heat
with pedestrians carrying silver umbrellas.
cast of the mirage,
back into the startled awaking rabbit,
yawns wide.
teeth jutting out, snapping and making
a joke: you wanna carrot boy?
orange tinge diffusing across azure blue,
silver lining parts, stretches, dissolves
while tendrils of nightmare gets released
into puzzle pieces rejecting odd triangle not
quite like the rest.
where’s the square, the loud rabbit shouts
as the riddle becomes unsolvable
with hell, pain and suffering causing quite
the migraine.
i must be quite mad,
the innocent bunny said
to his own reflection by the river
even as the trees soaked up the heat.
lap, lap, lap away
placid drivers remain unperturbed
as one startled car gears up!
black smoke flies out, a car heads towards the nearest
ER.
no one quite gets it, not the nurses or attending doctors
for a seemingly raving lunatic
unable to contain his misery.
too much, too much, he cried
to no one – blank expressions like the traffic
lights, uncaring.
they sewed him up good, the odd one out
gets thrashed,
and mr. bunny here flings the jagged piece
towards the sky.
of course it comes down, down to silver
umbrellas – piecing holes
bystanders aghast finally
because now this is news!
nightmare linings hang on edges of clouds,
hope was long gone –
found it the rabbit cackled,
rocked his paws to and fro
while kicking square pieces that laid
plainly in sight.
the holes kept not the heat out,
water cascaded down, soaked through
the puzzle solved.
but the rabbit has long gone missing,
deep into burrows, holes larger than pin pricks
made in the sky.
slumbering soundly,
don’t wake me up, he mutters,
all this needs to happen.
