why did you change lilith?
damsel illuminating – in ways i cannot fathom
but to seek.
when deep in your muses,
you gave light, what brightness
a star evaporating
and burning so.
i thought you stood for a bedrock
unchanging,
a solace i could wrap my arms
around and stay safe.
of the paradise you had whispered
in dreams, like dreams parting
at day break –
i sought too for bridges
that could mend all time: imperfect.
with dots on your petticoat
i saw a bird on a fence – sing.
colored, nostalgic, unassuming,
all the best parts of you
littered into that gray caravan
walking along those yellow bridges
brought down by
a flood.
memories of you now made clear.
of what you did do.
and then it was a parting of the mist,
my short sighted vision –
that you will change, when the price was
high enough!
many a men to dine with,
to be with. sleep with. and it meant nothing.
even deception. for you too compromised,
and said – i was the unlucky one,
holding fervent a dream just a dream.
pop. you said.
pop. i said.
when i found that you had changed,
all these years – promises binding
to be let loose
in that rebellion
when you said, it was yours to have.
no matter what.
and you changed,
it was a price quite clear,
a transaction – like all things on earth,
mundane earth
and you said to me, don’t you know
my darling?
that’s all there is
in this wild utopia
changing scene by scene,
wave by wave.
and you adapted.
became who you are,
the world toast you –
riding those waves,
undeniably defiant! against the heavens.
they gossip behind your back,
when you’re standing at the top.
strike you down,
when luck has run out
that this is no quick way
for a home run – i cannot imagine
any other outcome then,
you’ve followed the ways of the world.
all just a transaction,
in a world dashing around
your petticoat
spotted with many dots
of – just being practical.
the same crowd,
that reflects your image.
