underestimating spirits

Temple

emotions peel off,

spirits disrobed.

it is easy to take off skin,

though the endless squabbles

sure makes one pause.

for real?

a fledging raises his fist towards

an ancient being: i dare

then continues on with the tantrums

and not a dent was made on spirits

unperturbed.

fear, loneliness, euphoria, lust

the leaves sway merrily

with the mind meditating, fighting, wrestling,

quitting.

one plain is disturbed, like pond reflection ruffled

then continues to simply be

but beneath the surface, the density matters,

drops, falls, gravitates towards earth’s center.

young stems easily bent, malleable,

the squabbles quiet down with familiar skin

noticed, awareness, meditate on that!

a whale pops out of deep waters,

a pond parts, like the red sea on command,

with greater forces bending smaller ones.

take that, eat that, got that?

meditations don’t work no more, clear as

day when the sun no longer rises.

clear as night when the moon is unseen,

spirits do not age, do not falter with time,

our endless squabbles do.

you win, one man sighed,

the other beamed.

spirits remain undisturbed, unperturbed

when sigh, beam, squabbles mean nothing.
