if i were to chase the wind
and felt the wind, tasted the rush
of air bringing me high
if i had the light of the sun
upon my face, each flap of the tongue
brought me closer to the
stars, see those admiring eyes!
if i had the glitter of gold
moving mountains,
they will not raise the dead,
nor slow time
for he is a thief in the night
a number means nothing
till it is yours.
if i could escape time, space
still be able to laugh out aloud
at simple things,
for in simplicity there is abundance
when what is of flesh
gets stripped away
from all that swell, all the loud noise
just to be heard.
then, maybe
i would have just touched
the dove
behind the secret wall.
