it hurts, to sit
on something so very uncomfortable
and only an idiot does something like that
so says the wise man
who is not very wise
by my standards
but who am i?
a nobody, someone you pass by one the streets
without a hint of recognition
for i carry no banner, i carry no flags
for i will not lighten your burden,
i have my own to carry
and yet i do not bring false hope
when lies cannot be told from truth.
did you not know that
the best promises are the ones
we rather not know?
how the human heart deceives,
it burrows, it digs, it hides
and all you can see on the surface
so calm: you like it that way.
this i sit,
on the jagged edge
pretending that all is well
when you ask if i am confortable,
and i have to nod and give you
what you want.
you will appear shocked,
if i said this is what you want,
this slap on the face,
this insult,
this humiliation
of what you hide within your heart.
